Michael is the Founder and Chief Investment Officer at Sunpointe Investments. He has been advising clients for over 25 years. Prior to launching the firm, he was a Partner and National Segment Leader for the private wealth business at Mercer Investment Consulting, responsible for overseeing $8 billion. Michael fine-tuned his advisory skills as a Wealth Management Advisor with Merrill Lynch, a private banker with PNC Private Bank, and an investment analyst at a single-family office. This experience at a private bank, brokerage, and family office gave him different perspectives on the industry. He also spent several years prior to that as an entrepreneur, managing several retail businesses. “ I know what it is like to manage wealth from various perspectives. That experience has shaped my thinking on the importance of coaching clients using behavioral finance.”
Michael has written five books: Behavioral Finance and Wealth Management (Wiley 2006), Advising Ultra Affluent Clients and Family Offices (Wiley 2009), Behavioral Finance, Wealth Management 2nd Edition (Wiley 2012) and Behavioral Investor Types (Wiley 2013) and his fifth book is currently in publication. Michael earned his MBA in Finance from Tulane University and a B.S. in Management from the University of New Hampshire. Away from work, he loves everything sports: from watching and coaching youth sports to playing competitive tennis. Along with a family of three teenagers, he has two actively managed poodles and 6 passively managed guitars.
